Ways To Prepare For Possible Mail Delays

Due to recent changes to the United States Postal Service standards, it may take longer for delivery of mailed items. These changes could delay the arrival of important mail you send and receive, including new or replacement cards, account notices or statements you get from First Bank, billing statements you receive from other senders, and any bill payments you send by mail through our digital banking system.

Unfortunately, we have seen an increase in affected customer transactions by these changes. While we can’t control the timing of mail delivery, here are a few ways you can better ensure your payments arrive on time:

  • If you currently pay mortgage, utility, credit card or other bills through the U.S. mail, we recommend you send payments a few days earlier if possible.
  • With our digital banking, you can set up payees and make most bill payments electronically. You can also arrange to receive reminders of upcoming bill due dates, automatic payments and e-bills for many payees. Plus, you can access features like account alerts and mobile deposit, as well as enroll in online statements. Not all payees participate in Bill Pay.  If your payees are not set up to receive electronic payments in digital banking, a check will generate and mail to the payee. In these cases, please allow extra time for delivery.
